Treatment in the comfort of your own home
Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)
The basics of PD and how it works:
PD is a form of renal replacement therapy, for those who are in end stage renal failure.
A soft spiral plastic tube know as a PD Catheter is inserted into your abdomen cavity by a surgeon.
A sterile cleaning fluid is put through the catheter into your abdomen.
After a filtering period is completed the fluid is then drained through the catheter and exits the body.

Types of PD:
Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis(CAPD)
This treatment is done daily, by doing what is called exchanges. You do these during your normal routine at scheduled times throughout the day.
Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD)
This treatment is done once a day, with the use of a machine, at night while you sleep.
